What is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient practice that combines physical postures, breath control, meditation, and ethical principles to promote holistic well-being. Originating in India thousands of years ago, yoga aims to unify the body, mind, and spirit, fostering a sense of connection and balance.

Through various styles, such as Hatha, Vinyasa, and Kundalini, practitioners can enhance flexibility, strength, and mindfulness. Beyond its physical benefits, yoga encourages self-awareness and stress reduction, making it a valuable tool for cultivating a healthier lifestyle and inner peace.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is a practice that involves focusing the mind and eliminating distractions to achieve a state of mental clarity and emotional calm. By engaging in various techniques such as mindfulness, mantra repetition, or guided visualization, individuals can cultivate awareness and presence in the moment. This practice can reduce stress, enhance concentration, and promote overall well-being.

Regular meditation fosters a deeper understanding of oneself and encourages a more balanced and harmonious lifestyle. Whether practiced for a few minutes or extended periods, meditation offers a pathway to greater peace and insight.

I’ll guide you through simple meditation and breathing techniques that can last a lifetime. Everything you need already exists inside you. I can help you rediscover your natural, peaceful Self.

My Yoga Journey

Beginnings

In 2007 I showed up for my first yoga class. I had accidentally chosen an advanced class and just as I’d talked myself into staying there was suddenly a whisper in my ear that said, “I think you’re in the wrong class.”

The instructor proceeded to roll up my mat and escort me to the door. There I was, standing outside with my brand new mat as the door literally closed in my face. I had been officially booted out of my first yoga class.

Intuition

I was mortified, emotional and deflated. Ultimately, my choices were to go burn the new mat or to go find another class. It really felt like the Universe was challenging me. I mean, how serious was I about yoga anyway?

I found another class, and it will always be one of the greatest discoveries of my life. I was truly in the wrong class that day, because if I hadn’t been literally ejected or more like redirected, I may have missed out on connecting with my beloved yoga teachers, tribe, and ultimately myself.

Opportunity

I wholeheartedly fell in love with yoga, breathing and meditation. After several years of regular practice, my teacher suggested signing up for the upcoming yoga teacher training. Who, me? The student who’d literally been shown the door?

Thanks again to my inner voice, I signed up and became a certified yoga instructor. My inner voice continues to serve me beyond my wildest dreams. Are you listening to your inner voice?
