Integrative Health Coach | Plant Based Chef | Sound Facilitator

Hi, I’m Brooke. I’m an Integrative Health Coach, yoga teacher, plant based chef and sound practitioner with a background in emergency medicine and a very personal understanding of what it means to have your health turn your life upside down.

My approach to wellness is grounded in science, but I also believe there’s a lot to be said for learning how to listen to yourself. After years of working in healthcare and then becoming a patient myself, I came to understand that health is rarely about doing everything “right.” We’re human. Our lives are complicated, our bodies change and what works for one person may make absolutely no sense for another.

That’s why I’m much more interested in helping you figure out what works for you.

We might talk about food, movement, sleep, stress, relationships, work, joy or simply how to make taking care of yourself feel a little less like another job. I’ll bring education, practical tools and plenty of curiosity, but you’ll always be the expert on your own life.

Whether we’re working together through health coaching, sharing a sound bath or gathering for a retreat, my goal is pretty simple: to create space for you to slow down, reconnect with yourself and feel supported while you figure out what you need next.

No perfect wellness routine required. Just a willingness to get curious about what helps you feel well.

My Story

Long before I became a health coach, I worked in emergency medicine for 16 years as an EMT and CNA. I loved healthcare, science and understanding how the body works. I was also drawn to movement, food and the many ways we can support our health outside of a medical setting, which eventually led me to become a certified yoga teacher.

Then I became the patient.

In 2015, I was diagnosed with leukemia and underwent a stem cell transplant. Suddenly, everything I knew about health looked very different from the other side of the hospital bed.

Surviving cancer changed me, of course, but recovery changed me too. It made me curious about what it really means to be well after the crisis is over. I began paying closer attention to food, movement, stress, rest, relationships, nature and the things that make life actually feel good.

Over time, that curiosity became the work I do today.

I trained as an Integrative Health Coach and plant based chef and continued exploring practices that had become meaningful in my own life, including yoga, meditation and sound. Eventually, I began facilitating sound baths, retreats and community wellness experiences here in the Pacific Northwest.

My background may look like an unusual collection of things on paper, but to me they all belong together.

I believe deeply in science and evidence based care. Sixteen years in emergency medicine and my own experience with cancer made sure of that. But I also know that being well involves more than lab results and appointments. We need good food, movement, rest, connection, purpose, joy and sometimes a little time in the woods with our phones turned off.

I don’t believe there is one perfect way to be healthy, and I’m definitely not interested in pretending I have all the answers.

What I can offer is education, experience, curiosity and a supportive place to figure out what wellness looks like in your actual life.

Because sometimes, feeling well really can be simple.

My Vision

I envision a world where wellness brings us back into connection with ourselves, with each other and with the natural world around us.

I want to create spaces where people feel seen, supported and comfortable being exactly where they are. Whether that happens through one on one coaching, a sound bath, a shared meal or an afternoon in the forest, I believe some of the most meaningful changes begin when we slow down long enough to actually notice what we need.

To me, wellness isn’t about following all the rules or constantly trying to become a better version of yourself. It’s about building a relationship with your body, making choices that support the life you want to live and leaving plenty of room for joy along the way.

I believe in science and evidence based care. I also believe in intuition, nourishing food, community, sound, time outside and the simple act of paying attention.

My vision is to bring those worlds together and make wellness feel more human, more connected and a whole lot more sustainable.

Hobbies & Interests

When I’m Not Working

You can usually find me at a live show, wandering around in the woods, practicing yoga, cooking something delicious or heading out on a road trip with no particular desire to get anywhere quickly.

I love skiing, snowboarding, paddleboarding, roller skating and pretty much any excuse to be outside. I’m equally happy at home with my dog, good music playing and something cooking in the kitchen.

Live music is a particularly big part of my life. I love the community, the adventure and that completely ridiculous joy of being in a room full of people experiencing the same moment together.

I also love photography, especially catching those little moments in nature that make me stop and think, damn, look at that.

Basically, give me good music, good food, good people, some trees and a little adventure and I’m pretty happy.

Background & Training

Integrative Nutrition Health Coach

I trained as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I studied behavior change, coaching techniques, lifestyle management and the many factors that influence our overall health.

My training also explored more than 100 dietary theories and approaches to nutrition. If there’s one thing that reinforced for me, it’s that there is no single “right” way to eat or take care of yourself.

I use that foundation to help clients look at the bigger picture of their health, including food, movement, sleep, stress, relationships, work and the everyday habits that shape how we feel.

I’m not here to hand you a perfect wellness plan and send you on your way. We work together to find realistic changes that make sense for your body, your goals and the life you’re actually living.

My Path to Sound Facilitation

My Journey as a Plant-Based Chef

After leukemia and a stem cell transplant changed my life in 2015, I became much more curious about food and the role it plays in how we feel, recover and care for ourselves.

That curiosity eventually led me to plant based cooking. What started as a way to explore my own health quickly became something I genuinely loved. Cooking gave me a creative outlet and an entirely new appreciation for what you can do with simple, nourishing ingredients.

I eventually completed professional plant based culinary training through Rouxbe and began bringing that experience into my work with others.

Today, I prepare plant based meals for retreats, events and small gatherings. My food is colorful, seasonal, approachable and, most importantly, actually tastes good. Because nobody needs another sad wellness salad.

For me, cooking for people is one of the simplest and most genuine ways I know to care for them. Good food brings us together, gives us something to slow down and enjoy, and can support our health without making every meal feel like a health assignment.

I fell in love with the gong the first time I experienced one. I could feel the vibration throughout my body, but what really got my attention was how quickly my very busy brain became quiet.

I needed to know more.

That curiosity eventually led me to study gong playing and sound facilitation, learning not only how to play the instrument, but how to thoughtfully create an experience where people feel comfortable enough to settle in, let go of doing and simply listen.

One of my favorite experiences along the way was an overnight Gong Puja, a 7.5 hour continuous gong experience where participants sleep while a group of trained players take turns playing throughout the night. It was unlike anything I had experienced before and gave me an entirely new appreciation for the gong and the many ways we experience sound and vibration.

What I love most about sound is its simplicity. You don’t need to be good at it. You don’t need to know how to meditate or quiet your thoughts. You get comfortable, close your eyes and listen. The steady sound and vibration can create an opportunity for the nervous system to shift out of its usual go mode and into a state of deeper rest.

Today, I facilitate sound baths, retreats and community events using gongs, singing bowls, chimes and other instruments. I often bring sound together with some of the other things I love most, including nature, nourishing food, breathwork and quiet time.
