The Helping Hand Caregiver Course
Feel More Prepared. Care With Confidence.
Caring for someone in the hospital can feel overwhelming, especially when you don't know what to do, what to ask or how to help.
The Helping Hand Caregiver Course is an online course designed to give family members, friends and caregivers practical tools, guidance and confidence to better support someone during hospitalization and recovery.
After 16 years working as an EMT and CNA, I found myself on the other side of patient care when I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and underwent a stem cell transplant.
That experience changed everything.
I experienced firsthand how much our surroundings matter during hospitalization. While medical treatment addresses the illness, a comforting and supportive environment can encourage rest, reduce stress and help patients feel safe, cared for and connected.
I also learned just how meaningful a thoughtful, informed and compassionate caregiver can be.
These experiences inspired me to combine my medical background, personal journey and training in integrative health coaching to create a resource I wish every caregiver had.
Because caring for someone you love shouldn't mean figuring everything out on your own.
Whether you're preparing for a loved one's hospital stay, supporting someone through treatment or helping them recover at home, this course offers practical ways to create a more comforting environment while helping you feel prepared, supported and confident in your role.
From someone who's been on both sides of the hospital bed.

CARE WITH CONFIDENCE
Put what you've learned into practice to help create a more comfortable, supportive environment for someone you love.
Sometimes the smallest gestures make the biggest difference.
Why I Created The Helping Hand Caregiver Course
I've experienced hospital life from both sides of the bed.
After 16 years working in patient care, I found myself becoming the patient. That experience gave me a whole new understanding of how much the little things matter.
A comforting environment. Someone who knows what questions to ask. A familiar face offering reassurance when everything feels uncertain.
Medical teams provide essential treatment, but caregivers have an important role, too. Their presence, compassion and thoughtful support can make a difficult experience feel a little less overwhelming.
I created The Helping Hand Caregiver Course to share what I've learned, both professionally and personally, and to help others feel more prepared when someone they love needs them.
Because sometimes the most meaningful care comes from simply knowing how to help.
A Little About Me
Hi, I'm Brooke Susan.
For 16 years, I worked in patient care as an EMT and CNA, supporting people through some of life's most vulnerable moments.
Then I became the patient.
After being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and undergoing a stem cell transplant, I experienced firsthand what it feels like to be on the other side of the hospital bed.
That experience changed how I think about health, healing and the important role caregivers play.
Today, I bring together my background in emergency medicine, public health and integrative health coaching to help others feel more informed, supported and confident in caring for themselves and the people they love.
The Helping Hand Caregiver Course is a reflection of everything I've learned, both professionally and personally.
